Weston Labour brands Prime Minister "lacklustre"12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 23rd Apr 2008
Weston-super-Mare's local Constituency Labour Party (CLP) branch has launched a stinging attack on its own Labour Government and Prime Minister Gordon Brown. In an open letter to the Prime Minister, the local Labour Party attack the Government's lack lustre performance, criticise unpopular policies like post office closures and tax rises, and condemn Gordon Brown for "stubbornness" and "poor performance". Mike Bell, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Weston-super-Mare, commented: "This shows just what a shambles the Labour Party is becoming. They are more interested in fighting amongst themselves than in fighting for the British people. "Even loyal Labour members in Weston can see what a disaster Gordon Brown and this Labour Government have become. The only option for former Labour supporters locally is to support a party that wants to change things for the better, that believes in fairness and justice and who can stop the Conservatives winning here - the Liberal Democrats."
