Weston-super-Mare's Prospective Liberal Democrat MP, Mike Bell, has launched a new blog to help keep in touch with local residents all year round.

A blog is a website where entries are made diary style and enable writers to offer informal comment on news and experiences in their life. The blog allows readers the opportunity to leave comments and engage in online debate on the issues being discussed.

Mike said: "I am very keen to do everything I can to keep in touch with local people. I've already got a successful website which attracts many visitors every day. I've launched the blog to offer a new, interactive way to keep in touch.

"The blog will provide news and comment on local issues and the campaigns that I am running. I hope local people will also see it as a chance to comment on local concerns and highlight issues that they think I should be campaigning on.

"A blog is much less formal that a conventional leaflet or website and allows people to know about things as soon as they happen."

The term blog is derived from Web log. Blogs are becoming increasingly popular with hundreds of thousands operating around the world.

Mike's new blog can be found via his website www.mikebell.org.uk
